James began his career in the City in 2000 as a private client stockbroker. His main focus is equities, covering shares from FTSE 100 through to small-cap and AIM. James has built a wide range of experience across construction of bespoke portfolios for the medium to long term, short term trading ideas, derivatives and participating in institutional fundraisings. His experience of market events over the last two decades means James is well prepared for whatever may be around the corner and he believes that a strong attention to detail is the key to looking after clients. James is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments.

Gareth began his career in the Insurance industry and spent 3 years at RBS Insurance prior to setting his sights on a career in the city. His financial career began as a trainee Stockbroker in 2003 and he has spent his time trading Equity markets ranging from FTSE 100 companies, right through to small cap and fledgling stocks. He has developed strong and lasting relationships with corporate brokers, market makers and market professionals throughout London. Gareth has obtained the Diploma in Private Client Investment Advice and Management (Level 6).

Innis began his career in banking in 1988 working for Alliance and Leicester, progressing to personal lines insurance. He moved into corporate insurance, taking a position at Minets Ltd working as a runner at Lloyds of London, broking Professional Indemnity insurance to architects. In 1992 he moved to the financial markets, becoming an Independent Financial Advisor at Heath Lambert. Innis progressed to managing the pension transfer desk, with responsibility for all advice for new joiners or leavers from pension schemes. With an ultimate desire to work in broking, in 1996 he found a position to work in the commodity markets focusing mainly on precious and base metals, before branching out and setting up his own commodity trading company. In 2001 he was invited to join Beaufort Securities Ltd as trainee broker providing investor advice in all aspects of the markets. He progressed to Stockbroking floor manager with responsibility for thirty brokers, and latterly ran the IPO’s and internal placings department. Innis became an integral part in decision making for the company and was the Chairman of the Investment Committee. Innis has provided advice to retail investors for approaching twenty years and has relished the opportunity to continue in the same vein, joining Shard Capital Stockbrokers in 2017.

Adrian began his career in 1998 working in the Treasury department of RBS Trust Bank. He moved in 2000 and became a private client broker for a well-established stockbroking firm.
In 2008 Adrian joined Central Markets where he focussed on FTSE350 equity and Derivative trading, progressing quickly as a team manager then Head of Broking. In 2018 he joined Shard Capital Stockbrokers as an Investment Advisor specialising on all aspects of UK and Pan European Equities and Derivatives. Adrian has a Diploma in Private Client Advice and Management (Level 6) and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.

After graduating from university, Benjamin started his career with Zurich Financial before moving to City Equities Ltd, where for 5 years he specialised in the Small-Cap sector progressing to Senior Dealer and then Manager. For 5 years Benjamin focused on FTSE 350 CFD trading at Central Markets Ltd, again as a Senior Trader and then progressing to a Management position. He has gained a wealth of knowledge and contacts in the financial industry, is RDR qualified and is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.

David’s career started at the Home and Foreign offices, the pinnacle of which was a 2-year appointment as Vice Consul for the British Consulate General in Chongqing, China at the age of 26. He subsequently moved over to Financial Services, joining Shard Capital as a Stockbroker in October 2013, and promoted to the role of Partner (CF30) in July 2016. He specialises in advising on small cap equities and prides himself on his personal and professional approach, developing lasting relationships with his clients. David is a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and is RDR qualified.

With 18 years’ experience in the City and a strong network of high-net-worth individuals and corporate clients, he specialises in portfolio management involving smaller companies. An integral part of Shard Capital Partners for 10years, Simon's expertise spans equities, bonds, and collectives, enabling him to provide bespoke solutions aligned with clients' goals. He actively contributes as a member of Shard Capital's Investment Committee, meticulously assessing companies and funds to guide strategic decisions. Outside of work, Simon enjoys CrossFit, cycling, and coaching youth rugby.

Dean began his career in Financial Services in 2000. He spent 15 years advising clients, initially on small cap shares, and latterly on other markets and in FTSE100 derivatives. In 2015 he joined Shard Capital as a partner and stockbroker where he advises on all aspects of UK and pan European Equities and Derivatives, including Options and Algorithmic Trading. Dean has a Diploma in Private Client Advice and Management (Level 6), and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment, and the Society of Technical Analysts. Outside of the office Dean is a keen rugby player and tri-athlete, recently participating in the world famous ‘Ironman’ event series.

Since 1996, Farzin has been looking after high net worth private clients investing in the UK markets on both an advisory and discretionary basis. He is well known in the British Middle Eastern community and advises some of the leading families on their investment decisions. Having started his career at Teather & Greenwood he rapidly progressed to become a Fund Manager investing in UK equities and bonds. After 7 years at Teathers he spent 7 years at JM Finn as a Fund Manager and headed the Derivatives CFD desk. Farzin created the UK Tier 1 (Investor) visa solution in 2012 with the aim of offering a fair solution for the client which had to be fast, simple, and transparent. Helping immigration lawyers and advisors to deliver the full UK Investor Visa solution, with the primary objective to take the investment risk out of the visa application. This unique offering helped Farzin win “Wealth Manager of the Year” at the High-Value Immigration Awards 2014. Farzin graduated from Fishburne Military School and has a BA from University of North London. He also co-founded Pars Business Club a non-profit organisation.

In this time he met and analysed hundreds of companies in order to successfully identify investment opportunities for his clients. Robert is Level 6 qualified and a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.

James started his career in the City in 1999. He spent the first 14 years advising clients on Small-Cap equities, before joining Shard Capital as part of the team responsible for setting up the Stockbroking arm. His RDR qualification gained special recognition from the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments for achieving the highest combined pass mark for the Investment Advice Diploma in 2011. He prides himself in building and maintaining client relationships and continues to work in the City after relocating to the South Coast in 2010.

Originally from New Zealand, Simon McElhinney graduated in 1994 with a BCom in Finance from the University of Auckland. After selling the education business he founded, he moved to London and began his City career at Killik & Co in 2000 – where he worked for 15 years as a private client broker – before joining Shard Capital in April 2015. Simon advises clients across a wide range of potential investments including equities, bonds and collectives, providing a bespoke and personalised investment management service aligned to a client’s needs and goals. Simon holds a number of professional qualifications, including Private Client Investment Advice and Management (Level 6).
