Hard graft and gratification for Team Shard Capital’s Trekkers

On Saturday 14th May, six teams from Shard Capital found themselves heading for the hills to partake in Walking with the Wounded’s flagship fundraising event, The Cumbrian Challenge. Tackling one of the 13km, 24km or 31.5km routes, each team made it round successfully, and in one piece, also managing to raise £12,500 in the process, with more donations expected to come in over the next few days.

A record 160 teams, from across the country, set off on the trek this year. Every one of their involvement helps Walking with the Wounded [LINK] in their work to enable vulnerable veterans regain independence through employment. The charity’s various programmes provide support to veterans injured both physically and mentally, as well as those who are homeless or caught in a cycle of low level criminal activity. Already this year’s event has raised well over £140,000.

Whilst there appear to be a few aches and pains (and in some cases quite aggressive sunburn!), everyone had a fulfilling trip, challenging themselves in both amazing scenery and spectacular weather.

It’s not too late to sponsor our teams (we’re only £1,500 off our company target now!), by visiting the donation pages here:
